Free Trial
Every install of Screen Ruler comes with a 7-day free trial of the full Studio tier. No credit card, no signup, no email address, no downgrade nag. You install the extension, you get the whole thing for a week, and after that the core measurement and inspection features stay yours to keep, forever, for free.
This page explains how the trial works, what you get, and what happens when your trial ends.
What You Get During the Trial
For the full 7 days, every feature in the Studio tier is unlocked. Concretely:
- Inspection: floating inspector, box-model overlay, computed CSS, matched rules, Tailwind class output, page-wide colour and typography extraction, asset downloads, breakpoint detection, layout grid, x-ray mode, responsive viewport testing, technology detection, page-weight breakdown, accessibility (WCAG contrast) checks.
- Editing: live CSS editing with per-element change tracking, HTML mutation (cut, copy, paste, duplicate, delete), Tailwind class editor with autocomplete, text-in-place editing, pseudo-state and breakpoint editing.
- Automation: the MCP server, which lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, Continue, or any MCP-compatible AI coding agent drive Screen Ruler from a prompt.
How to Check How Much Time Is Left
Whenever you activate Screen Ruler on a page, a small dock appears at the bottom of that page. During your trial, the left side of the dock shows the number of days remaining (for example, "5 days left").
What Happens When the Trial Ends
When your trial ends, all Pro features lock. The core measurement and inspection tools stay free forever. In practice, this means:
- Still free after day 7: measuring pixel distances, hovering elements to see their box model, reading computed CSS, viewing matched rules, using the built-in eyedropper, extracting colours and typography, taking element screenshots, viewing meta tags, selecting parent and child elements, and the drag-on rulers.
- Locked after day 7: live CSS editing, HTML mutation, Tailwind class editor, per-element change tracking, MCP server, plus the advanced inspection features that make up the Inspect tier (asset extraction, layout visualisation, x-ray mode, responsive mode, breakpoints, animation and transition inspection, and more).
Upgrading
If you want to keep the paid features after your trial ends, Screen Ruler is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no auto-renew, and no per-seat billing at the individual level.
Two tiers are available:
- Inspect covers everything read-only: the floating inspector, responsive mode, asset extraction, and the rest of the inspection toolkit.
- Studio covers everything in Inspect plus live editing, HTML mutation, Tailwind class editing, and the MCP server.
See the pricing page for the full feature comparison and current prices.
Every purchase comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you change your mind for any reason within 30 days, email violetsmyster@gmail.com and you will get a full refund with no questions asked.
